Rid of procrastination

Time wasted

Since I started my writing career, I value time much more because it has become much more precious to me. Sometimes we waste time on things that do not have a greater purpose, such are things that do not contribute anything to our goals. Procrastination comes as a byproduct of all this waste.

Spending too much time checking emails. Much more time than we have to spent on social media. Time wasted on TV, streaming shows, listening to music and podcasts, etc. Oftentimes time wasted on friends. All these program our subconscious to become easily blocked when we desire to focus on an important task.

Becoming conscious of what is important

Each day ask yourself what is more important to you. Each moment think about the goals you have, strengthen your purpose, and become aware of your choices. Training your mind like this, it reminds you to be aware in those times when you need it the most; and, most importantly, daily practice of this awareness creates self-discipline, and this makes you more practical and mature when it comes to using your time.

All thoughts…

Self-deception

Thinking is important, obviously. Thinking, but not overthinking. Overthinking is tied to feeling frustrated, angry, jealous, unworthy, and the rest of the negative burdens. But it is so easy to overthink, and quite often we are not aware of the damage this overthinking is doing to us.

It’s so easy to get lost in thinking, because we feel pressure in life so we may believe thinking and seeking answers in scenarios and images in our minds will somehow fix whatever is wrong. And, of course, this is the damaging self-deception that overthinking brings.

Being alert

So, what really matters is what happens in our heads. That is where everything starts. Everything in life starts with a thought and with all the thoughts of a group. So, this is the inner world. Truth is, the outer world does not matter. Why…?? Because in order to remain alert or vigilant of my own mind, of my overthinking, I need to focus 100% on my inner world.

If I lose myself in the events of the outer world then I will become a slave to them. Becoming a slave to them means that I will easily be influenced by the outer world, which means society will dictate how I should think and feel. I don’t know about you, but I want to dictate how I think and feel. It is my life, after all; like your life is your life, and only your life.

Signs of improvement

Like The Sun gives energy to all

So, like the Sun is filled with energy to give life to Earth, you must be filled with love for yourself in order to be able to give love to someone else, or even to give love to the things you do in life. Any real success in your journey requires this.

Signs you are healing and succeeding on yourself:

-More observing, less judging.
-More thoughtful responding, less reacting.
-More self-care habits, less overthinking sabotage.
-More acceptance, less resentments.
-More attention on inner peace, not on outer chaos.
-More clarity in thought, less confusion and anxiety routines.
-More being and finding satisfaction staying put, less going out and trying to pursue pleasures and excitements.
-More faith in yourself, less fear of failure and ruining your future.

Turn things around

Inspiration

There is nothing like feeling inspired to get up in the morning and live a great day. But, sadly, most of us expect the day to bring inspiration, to make us feel like it’s a great day, to push us through. Truth is, you are the inspiration, and your attention allows you to feel it.

If I seek to feel inspired then I will put my full attention on what I do; but I won’t stop there, because I will choose to see everything I live, especially the hard times, with positivity and faith. I create my path and the way I feel; thus I create my inspiration.

Ways to turn things around

-If I encounter rude people, I ignore them or I do not engage myself emotionally with them.

-If I lose something or someone important to me, I do not let it pull me down but I try to get on with my life and envision a better future for me.

-If I see that things still do not go as expected, I use the frustration I feel as energy to seek other, more creative ideas and come up with other ways to create my success.

-If thoughts of any negativity start to creep in my mind, I use their energy and transform those same thoughts in ones of hope and strength. I create better scenarios in my head, ones which give me the capacity to feel better about myself.

The Birth of God

What the average man seeks

God is born from the thought of the average man. Man, deep inside is afraid of what he doesn’t understand about his own origins, outer space beyond the stars, the unknown in his own world.

Man’s intellectual mind overthinks, seeks answers to irrelevant questions. He doesn’t seek to become a better human being, but he looks for something fantastical, above his own ignorance.

Born from his fear

Because he doesn’t know himself. So, because he doesn’t know himself, he imagines, creates, gives a personality and a mind to this god/and or gods.

He seeks someone that can give him the light that he desperately needs because he feels without it inside. So, God is, in all man’s rantings and schemes, a direct product of man’s fear.

The mistakes of life

Making mistakes

I have made great mistakes. But, throughout life, knowing these mistakes of the past, I have come to see that all of them are there for a reason. No one is perfect. Yes, these can be giant mistakes, terrible mistakes, very bad mistakes; however, they are also teachers, but to learn from them is up to us.

If we don’t learn, we keep repeating them. So, it is always wise to pay attention and not get so into grief and shame. Anxiety is not a good friend, it doesn’t let the mind truly learn from mistakes. And to create success, whatever success means to each one of us, we must be able to pay attention and learn.

Being humble

Of all those mistakes, we may feel the self-pity, the frustration, the anger with ourselves. This is something natural, healthy, and it means we have the capacity to recognize we are flawed–which makes us more human, more empathetic. But, truth is, mistakes are an important part of life; because, like I mentioned, they’re teachers.

But teachers can only teach if the student is receptive. Being receptive is being open to new ideas, suggestions, philosophies to improve ourselves and move on. Being receptive then requires our humility, to accept that we have to change and that we are flawed; and humility to accept as well that we can indeed change and get better.

Adventurous to start…

Being adventurous

I think to be entirely oneself one must be brave, adventurous, not focused on the way others think and feel. I must connect with me, by focusing entirely on me. And the same goes for my activities, because in order to be successful I must create and do with freedom.

Creating and doing with freedom makes me feel joyful and confident. And life, in any aspect, requires this level of commitment from me. Commitment is not scary, or a burden, or a chore, if you feel joy and confidence in you.

Gaining experience as you go

And I often have felt afraid or overwhelmed when initiating a task, an activity, especially when writing the beginning of a story. But then again, creating and doing with freedom. So, I have come to understand that the biggest hurdle is the start of something, but that the start only asks for my adventurous spirit, my devotion for discovery.

It’s like exploring a place in which you’ve never been before. It’s all new, but as you start or enter the place then you become curious, and then more curious, and then you keep going with new ideas and driven by a passion to learn more about the place. And that is how experience comes to you, as you have the bravery to start and push yourself to keep discovering.

Critical…

Stress

Stress is a slow killer–killer of ideas, killer of positive attitude, killer of capacity for joy, killer of all health and good manners. If you have trouble sleeping, if your mind has problems shutting down and relaxing, then check your levels of stress. Personally, I have experience when it comes to stress and anxiety, which is why I started meditation years ago.

It really is that serious. You want to enjoy your life and what you do in it. That is the whole purpose of being alive. So, learn to manage your stress; because, I know, quite often, one may not see one’s stress as a critical life issue. Stress, undiscovered or not acknowledged, leads to many other psychological and physiological issues; and it changes your genes–the content and information of your actual DNA.

Clear communication

Assuming

Many times we assume in a conversation. I find that assuming can become an obstacle when it comes to clear communication. Our greatest way to connect to somebody is through listening and also sharing clearly how we feel. Sometimes assuming is presumptuous and obtuse, because it inflates our ego and disconnects us emotionally in the conversation.

Feeling what the other one feels

Feeling what the other one feels is empathy. It is something beyond the intellect and its desire to be right. It is putting ourselves in the mind and heart of that somebody, and then getting closer to their experience. This gives us greater insight, understanding, and it makes us more human–kind, generous, attractive, worthy of respect, love, and admiration.

Ideas/Characters

The birth of an idea

I find that, most of the time, the best ideas are born from simplicity. Take for example, the hero or villain in a movie or book. Something truly painful happened to them. A really troubled past made them who they are, regardless of the powers, weapons, or toys for combat they use now. Focus on the psychological change of each one of them.

And that is simplicity, because we have all suffered; so we can all relate to suffering and the psychological changes one may experience. All we have to do is take the suffering and add some interesting and creative experiences that shape the mind accordingly, and then we have a new character.

Driven characters

I make the character go through self-doubt, self-pity, anger, and all kinds of simple but real feelings. After all, my feelings lead me through my life, and they also lead the characters in my stories in order to be real like me. All pain and suffering exists in my life for a purpose, whether I like to admit it or not–school bullying, surgeries, separations, loss, bigotry, etc.

That exists to make me stronger. In the same sense then, a fiction character must allow himself to feel all his pain and go through a challenging transformation process; and then decide if to follow his anger as the villain, or to learn from the pain and gain strength as the hero.
