The wisdom in pain

Born to be great

Learning is not child’s play, because we cannot learn without pain. Pain means being confronted in your beliefs. Pain means accepting failure. Pain means carrying your past until you observe it carefully.

Pain means leaving those unhealthy addictions and adopting a different lifestyle. Pain means many things. But remember that what we do with that pain makes us better human beings, or destroys us in life.

And what we do now, echoes in eternity. We are born to be great. And so, to be truly great as we grow up, we are required to learn from our pain. This requires us, of course, to leave our comfort zones.

Cosmic forces

Ying & Yang

Health. Higher self-awareness. A strengthened spirit. Or Ying Yang balance. Two opposite forces or cosmic energies that complement each other and that live within us all.

Let’s just say what makes us human. It is our duality. The voices of negativity in your head. The voices of positivity in your head. Or as religion’s imagination goes: Angels and Demons, God and The Devil.

Positive & Negative

So, when we allow the forces of negativity to totally consume the way we think, we become filled with self-pity, with jealousy, with feelings of worthlessness and anger–all which leads us to physical illness.

And when we allow the forces of positivity to totally consume the way we think, we become overconfident, we lose connection with the pain and suffering of the world, we start to become naïve and emotionally swindled or controlled by others.

That is why to reach a balance in our lives, and in ourselves, is so important.

Excellence is reaching balance

So, from my experience, I thought about sharing some important benefits of reaching a healthy balance between the two:

-Inner peace and finding that true love for yourself (identity).

-Reduced anxiety, which leads to greater intelligence and creativity.

-Improved intuition, which guides you in life to make less fatal mistakes.

-Understanding your life’s true purpose, which leads you to find your true happiness.

So, how are you feeling with your life…?? Are you reaching that balance??

The birth of friendship

The purest connection

Nothing is stronger than friendship. This pure love/connection that brings trust, safety, loyalty, commitment to growth. I’m talking about the greatest and purest friendship there is: Friendship with yourself.

This type of friendship gets rid of self-doubt, self-neglect, patterns of self-pity, feelings of loneliness and self-loathing. It brings great trust and loyalty, so you can accept your flaws and work on yourself proudly.

True intelligence/A better world

Society is the way it is due to always focusing on the external–on what they say, on what they believe, on what to buy, on appearances, on following the thought and behavior of others, etc. If we were to focus on the internal, on befriending ourselves wholly, then expansion of self-awareness would make each one of us better human beings, for self-inquiry would bring true intelligence into our minds, thus a better world for all of us in every aspect would bloom.

Personal issues

What we carry

In my youth I used to keep anger and frustration bottled up, and sometimes I would subconsciously seek the smallest things, trivial annoyances, to explode and let it out, especially with my brothers.

I would lose my temper really quick with them. Not something I’m proud to admit. But, as I grew up, I started adding meditation and studying psychology to change my perception of things, which worked wonders for me.

Because it was painful to carry all this anxiety when young, and even though I wanted to change it was difficult without more knowledge and understanding of myself. So, what I’m saying is that we all go through something personal, and it’s heavy on us because it affects all our perceptions in life.

Leaving the burden is personal

It even programs our DNA, our subconscious and the automatic reactions we have in life. It depletes our energy, it makes us age faster and without grace, it dulls our senses and lowers our intelligence and creativity, our relationships get affected in all aspects–especially when it comes to sexual desire and performance.

The reality is that we can all change, but it takes a personal committment from you; because it’s not about the world but about changing you and the mental programming running you. No one is perfect, but chasing excellence and creating better habits for ourselves leads to self-healing; and that is definitely something we all want in our lives.

Becoming wise

Blind belief

I find that it’s very difficult to judge, choose, see the truth of something if we are bias. If we hold on to our beliefs, to our opinions, to the way we see things, then our minds become stubborn and blinded to reality. Take for example, a religious person.

A person blinded by certain scriptures and by what has been taught in their tradition may believe that Jesus is the savior and the only way. And that person grows attached to this blind belief. And the same could happen with another religion and their beliefs.

This blinds their minds from what is: Themselves. They are the saviors of their own lives, as their attitudes and personal habits. What saves them is their own personal habits of healh and wisdom.

Examine everything

Of course, the same goes for all politics and all sorts of personal philosophies, cultures, traditions. Don’t let your childhood, or what they have taught you, or what you have experienced in the past, make your mind rigid and unable to entertain and respect other people’s views.

But better be open-minded and expand your awareness. To do this, you have to examine and dissect all thoughts you have. Study all beliefs and ways of seeing things. Ask yourself questions: Why do I believe this or that?? What proof more than my feelings do I have??

Does it really make sense?? It’s my opinion or belief separating me from other people?? Is my opinion or belief only good for one group while excluding another?? Never stop asking yourself questions. This is how you know yourself and grow in wisdom.

The mistakes of life

Making mistakes

I have made great mistakes. But, throughout life, knowing these mistakes of the past, I have come to see that all of them are there for a reason. No one is perfect. Yes, these can be giant mistakes, terrible mistakes, very bad mistakes; however, they are also teachers, but to learn from them is up to us.

If we don’t learn, we keep repeating them. So, it is always wise to pay attention and not get so into grief and shame. Anxiety is not a good friend, it doesn’t let the mind truly learn from mistakes. And to create success, whatever success means to each one of us, we must be able to pay attention and learn.

Being humble

Of all those mistakes, we may feel the self-pity, the frustration, the anger with ourselves. This is something natural, healthy, and it means we have the capacity to recognize we are flawed–which makes us more human, more empathetic. But, truth is, mistakes are an important part of life; because, like I mentioned, they’re teachers.

But teachers can only teach if the student is receptive. Being receptive is being open to new ideas, suggestions, philosophies to improve ourselves and move on. Being receptive then requires our humility, to accept that we have to change and that we are flawed; and humility to accept as well that we can indeed change and get better.

The Great Purpose.

11fb85f26f5344bce895755b40f743f2

And we all suffer one way or the other.  Challenges.  Times bring change.  Painful memories.  Fear of not being accepted.  Fear of progress.  The hurdles are many.  We go through life and we learn.  Or we go through life and we remain suffering.  See, and some people never adapt, never accept challenges; but they fear the storm, and they only wait for it to pass instead of befriending their own troubles and growing as human beings.

The whole purpose of life, of these challenges, of loss, of neglect and all suffering, is to grow in understanding.  Understanding more and more is learning to live better.  Understanding more and more gives you the capacity to truly love yourself, your life, and another.  How do you see your life…??  Are you learning from it??  Or are you escaping it and fearing challenges??  Ask yourself this and ponder the answers in order to begin understanding.

Review of my books: “I really loved the depth of your approach, specially because sometimes I struggle with low self-esteem and that gets into my relationship with my new wife.  Thanks for helping us become aware of all these things.  Much love to you and yours.”
