Healing from wounds…

We are not our past

No one is fated to remain the same from our past. No one is doomed by the hurt of what was. We are what we choose to do now, looking forward, by thinking consciously and accepting that we can change and be better. And to be better than we were is always about moving on, and is always about discovering the value and honesty in yourself.

The mind can be a solitary place

All that burden. Perhaps bad memories. Maybe things we regret. Or just neglect from loved ones we feel. It all can get pretty heavy on us and make us start thinking that we can’t progress on our own. This is the darkest of our thoughts, and this can really become a solitary place filled with anger and frustration. Who would willingly like to live in a mind like this??

Healing yourself

We don’t heal by re-living bad memories, thoughts, and the things that were. I find that if I have a physical wound, for example, in order for it to heal I must not touch it. It might itch, sting, even hurt; however, if I keep touching it I make it worse and the wound starts to bleed more and more.

Now is a terrible pain that makes me weak and unable to feel healthy and happy to enjoy my life. The same happens with our memories, our past and all those things we must leave behind. We must be light and our minds free of burdens.

How I move on

1- You must create a purpose in your mind, and it has to be something truly important for you, something which makes you feel passionate and excited to work towards it daily.

2- You must give yourself the respect you deserve, which means not allowing thoughts of negativity, of doom and gloom to control the way you feel. It’s all about self-respect. All of it.

3- Trusting yourself is accepting that you will make mistakes and can move on from those. Trust is letting go from seeking perfection. You’re human, thus you will make mistakes. Accept this so your mind is ready to be strong when the time comes.

The reality of the self.

Why is laughter the best medicine..??

Because of how you feel. Because of the state of your mind. Because when you laugh, smile, make the negative into the positive, your mind and body go through a miraculous transformation. This transformation makes you shift your awareness, and so you feel better about yourself and your life.

Why does awareness matter…??

Awareness is conscious attention. When it comes to our minds everything is attention. If you focus (put attention) on the world, you will feel however the world wants you to feel. If you focus on yourself, you will feel however you choose to feel. Attention shifted inwardly is self-awareness, because your attention focuses on yourself and on how you feel.

Why increase in self-awareness…??

The more self-awareness, the less capacity the world and the situations in it have to affect you. You can feel sad, frustrated, angry; but, when your self-awareness levels are high, then your mind will be free and it’ll be easier for you to let the negativity go. When the negativity goes, you now can focus on cleaning your mind and bringing more positivity to it. This makes it easier to keep moving forward, think more clearly, and feel more love and happiness in your life.

The mind of good & evil.

Forces of evil

So, what do you consider forces of evil…?? What makes a person become swallowed by negativity, by feelings of worthlessness, by violent and hurtful memories and ideas in the present?? What makes a human being do anything??

Our minds. Nothing lives outside our minds. This is not spiritual. This is science. My mind can become filled with anxiety, thoughts of fear, anger, past memories that make me feel worthless. And this, of course, makes me act out and hurt myself and others–physical and/or emotional damage. I would do anything to get rid of the pain I carry.

Forces of good

So, I think is very important to be honest with ourselves. There are pressures in society. Bullying. Paying bills. Abuse. Words that hurt. Injustice. They will always exist in the world, and it won’t change. So, the truth is, what matters is the state of your mind, what you can control. Don’t let the world, your society, your friends and family overwhelm you and control the way you feel.

It is why creativity liberates us. Creativity being born from great imagination. It is the force of good that gives us the capacity to have inspiring ideas to leave the anger we feel, and the strength to find solutions to our troubles, and the power to communicate better the way we feel. Ben is learning this. Who is Ben?? A 12-year-old orphan boy. But, just like us, he feels all these burdens, confusions, darkness, and the desire to burn it all.

Being authentic now.

It’s very important to always be yourself and not fall into the anxiety, the game, the struggle of trying to be liked by others. What is true here is that people who truly care about you will accept you for who you are, without you having to deny yourself and pretend to be someone you’re not just to please their egos.

Being lonely is always having to put on an act, to seek to be liked by others, to please others and neglect who you really are deep inside. When you try to be false and pretend just to be liked, then you lose self-awareness, then you lose respect and love for yourself.

This, in time and unbeknownst to you, leads to feelings of worthlessness and self-pity. So, be always honest with yourself, be authentic in your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Do not let the crowd lead you, but you lead yourself.

See yourself.

Your own ignorance, your own lack of insight into yourself is keeping you down. You might carry loneliness, resentment, guilt, self-pity, jealousy; but all these are just manifestations of your own ignorance. Your ignorance lies in not knowing who you are and what you can accomplish. Your own dreams and greater possibilities rest in your grasp, but your attention on the tragic, on the sad, on the anxiousness, on the frustration with yourself is what deviates you from the bigger picture. The bigger picture being what’s beyond all this negativity you keep feeding. And negativity is what you have to learn to let go.

When I say ‘you,’ I mean ‘we’; because any of us needs to remind ourselves that all thoughts of despair appear and become strong in us only if we lack self-awareness. Lack of self-awareness is lack of insight into myself, into my strengths, into my better self. For example, if I go through something difficult in life, this doesn’t mean that I should overwhelm myself with self-pity and frustration; and so let my life become worse and even more difficult in the future through my feelings of despair. These feelings of despair that I have allowed into myself, that I have created really, mark who I am to myself; and how I see myself.

One thing to understand is that how I see myself is everything in life. So, ask yourself: Do I see myself patient, committed, able…?? Do I believe that my life will turn around if I believe in myself even through hardship…?? Do I lack real insight and understanding of my own strengths and capacities…?? Why should I feel depressed because things right now are not going as I expect…?? Life is based on asking yourself these questions, with honesty, with desire for true answers. I know that most of us ignore these questions, but in reality the answers to these questions may give us strength and insight into how we really feel. It is all about how we feel. Because your life is you. So, in order for life to be good, then you must feel good about it; and you must make it happen in your mind first, not wait around for some external miracle. Create the miracle yourself.

Full of confidence

There is no worst enemy than one’s self-pity. There is no greater obstacle you bring to yourself than overthinking and analyzing something to death. Life is to be lived with courage, the successful life that is. But, of course, we all feel lack of confidence, some self-pity, maybe sadness about ourselves and where we’re going in life at times. Or perhaps, when one is lacking self-awareness, we tend to secretly compare ourselves to others. That is human and we all do it. But the truth is that this kind of mental behavior does not help us in any way. We human beings are meant to be ourselves, unique; and it is why each of us has a different experience, each of us feels different, each of us carries our own styles and ways of thinking.

This might sound harsh, but a great life is only for the brave among us. By brave I mean the ones who leave our pasts behind, the ones who are absolutely ourselves, the ones who do put importance to what others think and feel about us. It is my life and I experience and learn from myself, for myself.

This is not selfishness. This is empowering ourselves. This is saying ‘I create what I want, with patience, with courage, with love for myself; and it might go against what society teaches and does, but still it is all about my happiness, growing in character and in confidence.

The fact is that we are what we daily think. If we daily think we can’t do something, or be something, or achieve something, than we are that. And we so become what we daily think. Because what we daily think about ourselves becomes great part of our subconscious, which means it becomes who we are in all situations in life. Life is no more than this. Life becomes this. What I do is to be positive in spite of whatever goes on around me. People do not matter because they cannot live your life. Each one of us lives our own. So focus on your life. What do you think about yourself right now?? How is that helping you?? Why do you think that?? Are you comparing yourself to others?? Are you living in past mistakes?? Are you living in past, hurtful memories??

Self-care

How do you gain confidence…??

How do you become stronger, sharper, more able to lead yourself in life with success??

When you start saying in your head that you are love, that you are beautiful, that you are enough, then you start feeling that in time. And when this happens you give yourself the charm, the magnetic pull, the energy to be more and to attract more in life–in relationships and in all situations. But how do you accomplish this…?? One day at a time. Don’t expect everything to come to you when you want it. Be patient with yourself. Each thought, each day, creates your feelings; and this feeling becomes you, and in time it becomes your persona, your character.

This happens subconsciously and it makes you either weaker, shyer, more influenced by society, or stronger, more confident, less influenced by society and more unique. It all depends on your thoughts about yourself daily. Do you remain anxious?? Do you forgive yourself, your mistakes, your past?? Do you belittle yourself in any way?? We are all possible of being great, confident, to achieve our goals; however, we need to become aware of our self-talk, and we must raise ourselves from feeling down and unsuccessful. This is an individual process, nobody can help you; but you have to do it, train your own mind daily to react and respond better to yourself and to others.

When you carry a lot of guilt, anxiety, anger, and even frustration in you, then you become a magnet for bad things, for more of the same. But if you keep your mind free of this and calmed, then you attract good things into your life, and so you get to enjoy more your life. And you become more attractive to yourself and to others, and this gives you confidence to explore other ways, to find solutions, to raise yourself above your problems. And your mood improves, which means you can now understand life better and act more positively in it.

The aware life

Why is the world the way it is…?? How to see past this..?? How to let go of my own negativity…??

The world can be challenging, people dying of hunger, illnesses, great natural disasters, and every immoral choice you can imagine. No one can deny this. You can see this wherever you look.

But it is in us to wake up each morning and find some miracle in our lives. Instead of thinking about the worst that could happen, I think about the positive that will happen. The positive that will happen is not about what will happen per se; but about my own mental attitude, the content of my thoughts, me letting go of anxiety no matter what happens. It is about my mental freedom. If my self-talk steers away from harmony, if the voices in my head start seeking the negative and loudly shout the pain from failure, then it means that I must become more aware of myself and steer my thoughts towards something positive and helpful in my day.

How you feel, and how you experience life, will be a result of your daily self-talk. Do you punish yourself because you “failed” at something?? Are you judgmental in the way you see your moments in life?? What about the voices in your head about your past…?? Are they loud and always bringing up the heartache and tragedies you lived?? Can you let go of this?? Can you not remain attached to the voices that bring anxiety into your life?? Because if you want happiness, you must let go, you must train your mind to seek positivity in the negative, to see the beauty in the ugly. Not saying this is easy, but just saying this is the only way.

Please see my article about happiness here: The essence of happiness. We can then say that a person’s character is his/her daily thinking. I will become the lover of my life, no matter what happens in it, if I remain self-aware, which is to remain focused in my daily self-talk. I will be what I tell myself daily. If I tell myself daily that life is struggle and that nobody gives me a chance, then that is the way I will remain; because this kind of self-talk is not giving me hope and strength to become better than I am now. But if I tell myself that I can get better and that I will keep on looking for better opportunities, then I will get stronger and change my life; because this kind of self-talk gives me hope and it revives my human spirit.

And it is all about keeping that flame alive (the human spirit), that passion for life which resides in you, maybe buried deeply; however, it never disappears completely as long as you are alive, so seek it. This is your challenge in life. This is my challenge in life. We are all here to keep that flame alive. Because life gets better only in this way.

Progress.

I encountered a man once who always talked about politics, blaming politicians and the government. This is all he did. He lived his life blaming others. And when things were wrong in his life, he would always say, “Well, God wants this,” and “Why is God doing this??” It was never his fault, but always another person’s fault. Either a real person in politics or an imaginary belief in the skies. And on top of that, he would look around him daily. If he felt wrong or somehow upset, frustrated or angry, he would blame his boss, or his neighbors, or his own wife. He was totally arrogant and wouldn’t see his own weakness in the pitiful blaming game he was constantly playing.

Life is a string of moments. These moments, each one of them, are originated by choices. Intimate or very personal choices. We are always choosing, even if we are not aware of it. We have a conscious and subconscious. When the conscious does not choose, the subconscious does; and it is automatic. The subconscious is reflected in our habits and behaviors, the ones we are not fully aware of taking. The issue is that if the economy is bad, then you will blame your life on this in order to feel better about your bad conscious and subconscious choices. The same happens with everything in your life. And this is running away from your personal responsibilities.

If you divorce or break up, then you will blame the other person. At least most people do this. In your anxious mind, this excuses you from your own misguided behavior during the relationship. So, what you are doing is denying your own faults; and by this denial you are programming your subconscious to keep making wrong choices in the future. This is not working on yourself, and it is keeping you down in terms of love, happiness, and that great feeling of success we all want. Focusing on yourself, in the other hand, helps you see your own faults; thus you can better understand your own subconscious programming, fix it, and through some soul-searching better yourself.

Nature of mind.

Keep positive.  Keep calm.  Seek your growth by cultivating a mind that is not anxious.  If the mind is anxious, then you won’t enjoy life.  If the mind is agitated, then you will not be able to go deep into life and find solutions to your unrest.

The nature of our minds is to always run, to always direct one way or the other; but in this very running we distortion clarity.  And we need clarity to find solutions and see reality as it is.  So it is rational and illuminating to remain self-aware of our own minds all the time, right…??  What do you think??
