Growing relationships

A clear mind

Dates. Getting to know each other. Romance. Not appearing too clingy. Trying to show your best side. It’s all very challenging, isn’t it?? That’s the human experience, trying to form relationships, any sort of connection.

But, quite often, the problem is the anxiety in the mind, the nervousness, having a lot questions in there, all this pressure. It took me a long time, but now I understand that it is all about having a mind free of all this. That is, a mind which can be relaxed and not overthinking.

The damage is overthinking things, trying to answer all questions, seeking to be the one who understands how to do everything in a relationship. But letting it go, flowing with what is, just letting it happen–that’s what is required.

No expectations

Relationships are important, but they can be easy to damage. As mentioned, sometimes we put a lot of pressure on us to be this and that. But this only makes it worse, because no one is free and happy if we feel like we carry big burdens. And expectations can be burdens.

Expecting something to be the way we want, or trying to make another person like us or love us the way we want. Any expectation becomes a program in our minds, and it affects the way we interact with each other. And we may get angry easily, or tend to have no tolerance, or get frustrated with ourselves or with the other person easily.

So, I’ve learned that relationships become a success when we carry no burdens. Love is like a garden of flowers, and weeds are the expectations. Weeds choke the beautiful flowers. Get rid of the weeds, so the garden grows.
