Denial
There is something heavy upon the soul who seeks self-improvement, love, happiness, freedom to be him/herself. There is such a thing as judging yourself based on your past, based on who you were, based on the burdens you may carry.
This is not self-love, but self-denial. Denying who you are. Ignoring who you are to remain attached to who you were. This denial is the heaviest burden, because it is deceitful. You are a moment in evolution, this moment.
Just observe
Life is moment after moment after moment. You are but one moment, which means the only burden guiding human beings to failure is the attachment to the past. You were is gone. You are is now. You will be is about who you are now.
There is no burden like this one, the one your mind creates and brings upon you making it real. Just observe who you were, smile at the experience whatever it was, and detach yourself from it. How??
Detach yourself from it by loving who you are now, which means forgiving and letting go who you were. Because the only freedom you can get lies in the you who is now. The person you are now cannot remain tainted with the person who you were/with all the screaming remnants from the past.
